Biography
Anthony Gabriele is an innovative instructional leader and curriculum designer with more than 25 years of experience supporting educator development and student-centered learning systems. As a Senior Adjunct Faculty member with the Penn Literacy Network at the University of Pennsylvania, Anthony facilitates graduate-level coursework and national professional learning focused on literacy, innovation, and systemic change. His work spans public school districts and higher education, where he has led strategic initiatives in curriculum development, blended and online learning design, and instructional coaching grounded in frameworks such as Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning. A recognized leader in the Open Educational Resources (#GoOpen) movement and Future Ready Schools network, Anthony is committed to empowering educators, advancing equitable access, and designing inclusive, future-ready learning ecosystems.

Transformational Leadership Impact

Throughout his career, Mr. Gabriele has demonstrated expertise in:

  • Curriculum and Course Development: Designing and leading the implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and course content for three learning modalities - brick and mortar, blended, and online. 

  • Personalized Professional Learning and Leadership Development: Developing and facilitating innovative, flexible, and personalized learning ecosystems for administrators, faculty, and staff.

  • Strategic Systems Design and Implementation: Leading the construction and implementation of District-wide systems for continuous improvement, administrative, faculty, and staff collective efficacy, and increased student outcomes.

  • Technology Integration: Driving authentic, purposeful, and strategic use of educational technology to enhance teaching and learning, as well as organizational efficiency at all levels (classroom, building, and central administration). 

 

Current Role

Mr. Gabriele serves as Assistant to the Superintendent for Academics and Student Services in the Centennial School District, where he leads a cross-functional team in advancing equity-focused initiatives in student services, teaching and learning, and educational technology. Using systems design frameworks such as Future Ready Schools and the NCEA Core Practice Framework, he has helped implement and sustain aligned, high-impact learning opportunities. Under his leadership, Centennial achieved 100% student growth on PVAAS measures across all schools, including significant gains among English Learners, students with IEPs, and other underserved groups.

 

Along with his District Role, Mr. Gabriele currently serves as Senior Adjunct Faculty for the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Learning (fmr. Literacy) Network.  He leads the development of professional learning workshops for PLN leadership and faculty, facilitates graduate-level courses for teachers & school leaders across the United States, and supports the Executive Director of the Penn Literacy Network with technology and online learning initiatives.

 

Summary of Prior Experience

Mr. Gabriele has served on various State and National Education Committees and Workgroups, including the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s PA Learns on iTunesU curriculum and resource design team and the United States Department of Education’s #GoOpen Open Education Resource initiative. Before coming to Centennial, Mr. Gabriele spent 6 years as a Supervisor for Learning, Development, and Professional Growth for the Garnet Valley School District. In this role, Anthony co-led a team of administrators and teacher leaders that revamped the District’s curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, learning spaces, and overall programming for its faculty and students.  Prior to this, Mr. Gabriele spent the first 14 years of his career in the Wissahickon School District, working as an English Language Arts teacher and as an Instructional Staff Development Specialist in both the middle and high school settings.  In these roles, Anthony was at the forefront of co-teaching and inclusion, curriculum design for culturally responsive learning environments, and instructional technology integration in the classroom.
