Biography
Dr. Kristin Herman is an instructional and curriculum designer of K-16 educational ecosystems. She holds a PhD. in Instructional Design and Technology from Old Dominion University. Her research interests include ethical AI adoption, empowering teachers as designers, and trauma-informed online learning design. In practice, Dr. Herman has guided leadership teams through persona creation for initiative adoption and served as a consultant for the PA Department of Education AI advisory council, establishing AI competencies for preservice teachers.

Current Role
Dr. Herman is currently the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning for Centennial School District in Warminster, PA. In this role, she heads the Office of Technology, facilitating integration and communication between techspeak and eduspeak. She is directly responsible for standing up and managing the Centennial Virtual Learning Academy (CVLA), an online learning pathway that boasts over a million dollars in cost avoidance annually. With her passion for online learning design, Dr. Herman has expanded educational pathways for all students, offering blended and dual enrollment schedules to maximize flexibility in preparing students for their increasingly digital futures.
Summary of Prior Experience
After 12 years in the secondary English classroom, Kristin transitioned into a role as the Learning Technology Specialist for West Chester University (PA), where she helped faculty design active learning spaces and online students access various campus resources, directly contributing to an Online Student Support certification from Quality Matters. She has also consulted on a National Science Foundation grant-funded project to train cybersecurity researchers in high-performance computing and machine learning.
